Live Webinar: Introduction into Neurodiversity-affirming Occupational Therapy Practice

When: December 13th at 6pm to 8pm

COST: Non-Members $15 & NDOTA Members Free

Synopsis: Neurodiversity-affirming practice (NAP) is a moral imperative for occupational therapy practice. Occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) supporting neurodivergent individuals should be aware of and know how to apply NAP concepts. This presentation will provide a brief overview of NAP and how to apply NAP concepts within assessment and treatment when supporting neurodivergent individuals across the lifespan. Occupational therapy, coupled with occupation-based frameworks and tenets of the reformed social model of disability, can maximize the health, well-being, and quality-of-life of neurodivergent individuals on their terms.

Learning Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Identity neurodiversity-affirming and non-neurodiversity affirming practices within occupational therapy.

  2. Consider how to prioritize occupation-based frameworks and the reformed social model of disability within practice

  3. Reflect on their current practices when supporting neurodivergent individuals.
